Baseball Game Preview: Benicia Panthers vs. American Canyon Wolves

Benicia is a perfect 10-0 against American Canyon since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Benicia Panthers will face off against the American Canyon Wolves at 3:30 p.m. American Canyon took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Benicia, who comes in off a win.

Benicia is headed out to face American Canyon after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Benicia was the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Wood on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Dominic Louro looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Myles Cooper, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Colton Richardson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Benicia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wood only managed three hits.

Meanwhile, American Canyon came up short against St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Friday and fell 10-6.

Mason Harris made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Benicia beat American Canyon 12-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benicia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
