Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Gryphons vs. Christ Chapel Academy

The Trinity Christian Gryphons will square off against Christ Chapel Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Trinity Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 44-35 win over Washington Latin Public Charter School. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Gryphons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 242nd in Virginia, while the Lions are ranked 37th in District of Columbia).

Meanwhile, Christ Chapel Academy beat Covenant Christian Academy 54-47 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Christ Chapel Academy.

Christ Chapel Academy is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Trinity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Trinity Christian beat Christ Chapel Academy 50-41 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Christ Chapel Academy's David Neaves, who posted 22 points.
