Softball Game Preview: Johnson Bayou Rebels vs. Singer Hornets

The Johnson Bayou Rebels will square off against the Singer Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Johnson Bayou is looking for their season's first win.

Johnson Bayou fell victim to Starks and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Singer had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past South Cameron 15-5 on Tuesday. The Hornets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th.

Jada Eaves made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Singer got a massive performance out of Breeanna Mitchell, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Mitchell has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Landri Sandifer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Singer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Singer's victory bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Johnson Bayou, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
