Baseball Game Preview: Arlington Colts vs. Martin Warriors

The Arlington Colts will square off against the Martin Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Arlington 3.7, Martin 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Arlington barely beat Grand Prairie the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Colts never let the Gophers get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Gophers: they've now won nine in a row.

Abraham Alvarado and Mason Hensley made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Alvarado didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hensley tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Alvarado also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arlington is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise. At the plate, Alvarado went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Hensley went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremiah Taylor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lunden Prater, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Martin came into Saturday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Lake Ridge by a score of 5-0 on Saturday.

Arlington's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Martin, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15-1.
