It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Russell County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Eufaula Tigers 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

Conner Cox spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Russell County's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Van Richards, who went 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

Russell County's record is now 10-6. As for Eufaula, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Russell County will head out to face off against Headland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Eufaula, they will venture away from home to challenge Northside Methodist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
