Ridgefield is 1-8 against St. Joseph since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Tigers will head out to square off against the Cadets at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Monday, Ridgefield got the win against Westhill by a conclusive 12-6.

Caitlin McGratty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Grace Couch and Sonia Gaughran did most of the damage at the plate: Couch got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Gaughran went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base was Gaughran's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jada Metzger, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Ridgefield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Joseph). They blew past Greenwich 21-2 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Katie Dzialo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, MacKenzie Caouette was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Gina Coppola was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBI.
St. Joseph pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgefield, their record now sits at 3-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ridgefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like St. Joseph struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ridgefield came up short against St. Joseph in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
