Laurel and Wise are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Pumas at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Laurel's offense. They came up short against High Point on Wednesday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Spartans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Wise was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 21-1 to Bowie.

Wise saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alando Simmons, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.

Laurel has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Wise, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Everything went Laurel's way against Wise when the teams last played back in March, as Laurel made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
