Volleyball Recap: Athol Takes a Loss

Athol lost against East Longmeadow back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bears lost 3-0 to the Spartans.

While Athol was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into East Longmeadow's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.

Aiden Desreuisseau paced Athol's offense, picking up seven kills. Desreuisseau got some help from Caunor Mason and his 14 assists. Jack Waslaski controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Athol dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for East Longmeadow, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athol will host Holyoke at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Longmeadow, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Sci-Tech at 6:15 p.m.
