Soccer Game Preview: Memorial vs. Liberty

The Memorial Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Liberty Redhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorial will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Memorial is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They put the hurt on Emerson with a sharp 5-2 win on Tuesday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Mavericks are ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Liberty has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 14. They and Independence finished up their match with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Redhawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Memorial pushed their record up to 6-1-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three contests. Liberty's draw gives them a new season record of 2-7-1.

Memorial took their victory against Liberty in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Memorial since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
