Basketball Recap: Grovetown Takes a Loss

Grovetown played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 63-33 loss at the hands of the Archer Tigers. The match marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Grovetown saw an underclassman step up: freshman Layla Brinson went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for Brinson. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Cavalier, who posted ten points.

Grovetown dropped their record down to 9-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Archer, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Grovetown and Archer should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Grovetown (ranked 106th) will meet Heritage (ranked 281st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Archer will take on Rockdale County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 210 places (19 vs. 229).
