Basketball Recap: Idalia Comes Up Short

Idalia and Stratton squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Idalia had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Stratton Eagles, falling 68-40. The Wolves have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Despite the loss, Idalia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabe Kechter went 7-for-9 on his way to 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Kechter a new career-high in shooting accuracy (78%). Kolby Morris was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Von Isenbart was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 25 points and 11 boards for Stratton. Isenbart's big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Levin, who shot 55% from the field en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Idalia's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Stratton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Idalia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stratton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-41 victory against Holly on the 8th.
