Basketball Recap: Trinity Prep Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop Moore, Trinity Prep was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 62-58 W over the Horizon Hawks. This was payback for the Saints, who suffered a 62-58 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Zayn Kara had an outrageously good game as he shot 60% from the field en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Julian Font, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

When it comes to explaining why Horizon lost, don't look at Diego Rojas. Despite the final result, he posted 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 41.4% of the Hawks' points, marking the third time in a row Rojas has had more than a third of the team's points. Evan Miranda-Cruz also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

Trinity Prep's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Horizon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Trinity Prep will head out on the road to square off against Geneva at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Horizon, they will be home for the holidays to greet Ocoee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
