Basketball Game Preview: Battle Mountain Huskies vs. Eagle Valley Devils

The Battle Mountain Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the Eagle Valley Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Battle Mountain is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Grand Junction Central just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Eagle Valley fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Summit on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Tigers. The Devils were up 40-20 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Battle Mountain suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 9-5. As for Eagle Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Battle Mountain was taken down by Eagle Valley 66-30 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Battle Mountain was down 32-11.
