Volleyball Recap: Americas Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Americas was the 3-1 winner over El Dorado when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Trail Blazers lost 3-0 to the Aztecs on Friday. Considering the last time the Trail Blazers couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: El Dorado scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-22.

Victoria Mata paced Americas' offense, picking up eight kills. Mata got some help from Sole' Sebree and her 20 assists. Finally, Zaynna Winfield kept Americas' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Natalia Ruiz had another great game (as she tends to do), getting 16 digs for El Dorado. Ruiz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Americas and nudges their season record down to 16-15. As for El Dorado, their win bumped their record up to 12-16.

Looking ahead, Americas will host Loretto at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Dorado, they will square off against Bel Air at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday.
