Apex proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Holly Springs Golden Hawks 3-2. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Golden Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Apex wouldn't go down easily and took Holly Springs into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 25-27, 18-16.

Holly Springs' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashley Diebler, who had 18 assists and 16 digs, and Ella Brueckmann, who had 18 digs and seven assists.

Apex's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Holly Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apex will head out to take on Fuquay - Varina at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Holly Springs, they will square off against Green Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
