Softball Recap: Pace Takes a Loss

After soaring to 21 runs the game before, Pace was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Porter Cowboys by a score of 2-1. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cowboys earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Luna Juarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Pace saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Alejandro, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Pace has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Porter, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pace will face off against rival Donna North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Porter is set to challenge their familiar foe Weslaco East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cowboys 2.7, the Wildcats 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
