Football Game Preview: Grant Community Bulldogs vs. Lake Zurich Bears + Official Tickets

The Grant Community Bulldogs will square off against the Lake Zurich Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Grant Community was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-30 to Antioch. While the Bulldogs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Sequoits 6-0.

Despite the defeat, Grant Community got top-tier performance from Matthew Gipson, who threw for 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 65 yards and one TD. Tyler Zdon was another key player, gaining 105 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Zurich). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Stevenson 49-9. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-3.

Lake Zurich's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.3 points on average over those games. As for Grant Community, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
