Basketball Game Preview: Quaker Valley Quakers vs. Ambridge Bridgers

Quaker Valley is 8-2 against Ambridge since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Quaker Valley Quakers will welcome the Ambridge Bridgers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Quaker Valley has three straight victories, Ambridge has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Quaker Valley beat Carrick 62-49. The Quakers pushed the score to 56-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders cut but never quite recovered from.

Quaker Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zach Washington out in front who went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points in addition to six assists and five boards. With that strong performance, Washington is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Chapman, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Quaker Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Ambridge ended up a good deal behind Sewickley Academy on Tuesday and lost 69-54.

Ambridge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Quaker Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything went Quaker Valley's way against Ambridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as Quaker Valley made off with an 82-61 win. Does Quaker Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ambridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
