Softball Recap: Saegertown Wins Going Away Against Lakeview

The Saegertown Panthers got the win against the Lakeview Sailors on Friday by a conclusive 11-1. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.

Hailey Obenrader spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Brauen, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Braymer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Saegertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeview only posted an OBP of .250.

The win made it two in a row for Saegertown and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lakeview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Saegertown has already played their next match, an 11-6 win against Maplewood on the 15th. As for Lakeview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-14 victory against Oil City on the 14th.
