Basketball Game Preview: South Wasco County Redsides vs. Trout Lake Mustangs

South Wasco County and Trout Lake are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The South Wasco County Redsides will challenge the Trout Lake Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

South Wasco County took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 61-54 win over Horizon Christian. While the Redsides didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Trout Lake can finally bid farewell to their 11-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Klickitat-Glenwood, sneaking past 60-58. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Mustangs' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

South Wasco County pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Trout Lake, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

South Wasco County might still be hurting after the 52-32 defeat they got from Trout Lake in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can South Wasco County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
