Baseball Recap: Sanford Extends Winning Streak to 11

Sanford put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Tower Hill Hillers. Considering the Warriors have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alex Gannon and Owen Ripple were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gannon didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Ripple struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gannon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Gannon went 3-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI, while Ripple went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits Gannon has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Malloy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Ruhland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Sanford pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Tower Hill, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, Sanford will head out to take on Newark Charter School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 1.8, the Patriots 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tower Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wilmington Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
