Volleyball Recap: Central Plains Comes Up Short

Central Plains was the 2-0 winner over LaCrosse when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Oilers fell just short of the Leopards by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. While the Oilers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Leopards 25-17 in the first set.

Central Plains started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-20, 25-19.

Kambree Nixon paced Central Plains' offense, picking up ten kills. Nixon got some help from Taylin Davis and her 19 assists.

Central Plains has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for LaCrosse, their win bumped their record up to 9-15.

Looking ahead, Central Plains will take on Clay Center at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Oilers surely won't give up without a fight. As for LaCrosse, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Victoria on the 7th.
