Baseball Recap: Severn School Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

Severn School not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024. Everything went their way against the Glenelg Country Dragons as the Severn School Admirals made off with a 9-1 win. The Admirals haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Matt Fisher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Fisher was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andy Blanck, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Lawrence Jacobs also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Severn School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Severn School's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Glenelg Country, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Severn School will face off against Westville at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Severn School is facing Westville at the right time seeing as Westville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Glenelg Country, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-2 defeat against Charlotte Country Day School on the 17th.
