Baseball Game Preview: Big Bear Bears vs. Excelsior Charter Eagles

For the second straight game, Big Bear will face off against Excelsior Charter. The Bears will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Big Bear has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Big Bear came up short against Excelsior Charter on Wednesday, falling 16-9.

For Excelsior Charter's part, the team relied heavily on Bradley Smith, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Excelsior Charter's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Big Bear, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
