Basketball Recap: Fordham Prep Beats Riverdale Country for Their Fifth Straight Win

Fordham Prep came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 70-63 win over the Riverdale Country Falcons. The Rams pushed the score to 56-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Fordham Prep to victory were Brian Kapfer and Matthew Herlick. Kapfer went 6-for-11 on his way to 20 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Herlick went 10-for-20 en route to 26 points and five assists. Kapfer's evening made it 24 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Sean McKiernan, who posted six points.

Fordham Prep's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points over those games. As for Riverdale Country, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
