Football Recap: Carbondale Terriers vs. Murphysboro Red Devils
Carbondale took care of business in their home opener on Friday (barely). They skirted past the Murphysboro Red Devils 36-33. For the Terriers, this counts as revenge for the 49-7 defeat the Red Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2023.
Leading Carbondale to victory were Demarzion Graham and Braylon Berry. Graham rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns, while Berry picked up 161 receiving yards and a touchdown. Berry was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Calen Lilly, who picked up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Carbondale will square off against Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Murphysboro, they will host Anna-Jonesboro/Dongola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
