Baseball Game Preview: Dover Senators vs. Caravel Academy Buccaneers

The Dover Senators will head out to take on the Caravel Academy Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dover is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Dover is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Woodbridge, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Dover was ranked tenth). The Senators blew past the Raiders 10-0 on Thursday. Considering the Senators have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Caravel Academy came out on top against Conrad Science on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Buccaneers took their matchup against the Red Wolves 10-7. The victory continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Red Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Brady Thompson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Gavin Evans was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Dover's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Caravel Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Dover beat Caravel Academy 6-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
