Football Preview: Hillsboro Spartans vs. West Albany Bulldogs

The Hillsboro Spartans will challenge the West Albany Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hillsboro's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They came out on top against Putnam by a score of 28-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Meanwhile, West Albany entered their tilt with South Albany on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They breezed by the Redhawks to the tune of 47-13. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

West Albany can attribute much of their success to Kaden Martirano, who threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, and Tyler Hart-McNally, who gained 152 total yards and two touchdowns. Hart-McNally's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 116 rushing yards. Dwayne Conrod made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

West Albany didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Conrod and RJ Fallows. West Albany got some further help from Tyson Walker: he picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles.

Hillsboro's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.4 points per game. As for West Albany, their record now sits at 7-2.
