The Winter Park Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Bishop Moore Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Winter Park is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
On Thursday, Winter Park was able to grind out a solid victory over Fenwick, taking the game 7-4. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly three runs.
Winter Park got a great performance from Miles Gotlib as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Gotlib a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayden Montanez, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cole Blalock also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Winter Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lake Brantley typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Bishop Moore proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Patriots.
JT Costello looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jesiah Woodside was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Tyler Lomas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Bishop Moore's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Winter Park, their record now sits at 14-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Winter Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bishop Moore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Winter Park suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Bishop Moore when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Winter Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
