One night after he narrowly escaped serious injury in a car accident, Madison sophomore running back Aaron Green smashed the San Antonio, Texas, city scoring record with a prolific nine touchdowns during a wild 69-56 victory over Kerrville Tivy. The record of eight touchdowns had been shared by three players. The national record is 12.
Green, who was with his brother Andrew, a safety, told the San Antonio media, “We were just driving home from a team dinner and this car pulled right out in front of us. I was really thinking about not playing, but I just had to put it behind me. I didn’t want to let my team down.”
Though the car was totaled, Green received only a few scratches. Obviously still shaken, Green took it all out on Tivy by rushing for 428 yards – third-best in city history – with long runs of 80, 56 and 55 yards. Named MaxPreps National Player of the Week, the 15-year-old Green already was stamped for greatness because he is the son of former Baylor University safety Tony Green and nephew of four-time NFL Pro Bowl cornerback Gary Green…Colton Palmer, a 6-4 senior quarterback, accounted for all of Tivy’s scores – five on passes and three on runs.

His dad always told him he couldn’t brag until he scored at least five times in a game. Well, LaSteven, a 5-9, 160-pound junior, did score five times as Nazareth Academy (LaGrange Park, Ill.) routed Riverside-Brookfield, 69-21, and his next goal, of course, is to score six times in a game to break the “tie.”
