Volleyball Recap: Estacado Falls Despite Big Games from Laterrian Hastings and Adriana Hinojos

Estacado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Lake View Chiefs/Maidens. The Matadors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chiefs/Maidens earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lake View scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 25-19.

Estacado's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Adriana Hinojos, who had 15 digs, and Laterrian Hastings, who had 12 digs. London Burrell also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Estacado's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Lake View, the win snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 7-17 record.

Coincidentally, Estacado and Lake View will both be playing Liberty the next time they take the court. The Matadors will host the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Chiefs/Maidens will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
