Basketball Recap: Hernando Takes a Loss

Hernando was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 66-30 to the DeSoto Central Jaguars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Jaguars are ranked 15th).

Hernando's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for DeSoto Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Hernando will head out to square off against Horn Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Horn Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Hernando likes a good challenge. As for DeSoto Central, they will square off against Lewisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeSoto Central is facing Lewisburg at the right time seeing as Lewisburg is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
