Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Astoria

Astoria entered their tilt with Tillamook on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 21-6 margin over the Cheesemakers. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 10-0 victory last Thursday.

Maddie Wilkin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Astoria got a massive performance out of Aryana Adams, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Adams has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kya Lindell, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Astoria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tillamook only posted an OBP of .308.

Astoria's win bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for Tillamook, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Astoria didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-0 victory against Seaside on the 8th. As for Tillamook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 6-2 loss against Scappoose on the 8th.
