Softball Recap: Walnut Extends Winning Streak to Three

Walnut had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Thrasher Rebels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-3 back in March.

Aubree Carter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taylor Garner was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Baylee Spight, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Walnut's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Thrasher, they dropped their record down to 4-10-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Walnut will venture away from home to face off against Senatobia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Thrasher, they will square off against Potts Camp at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
