Baseball Game Preview: McBee Panthers vs. Ware Shoals Hornets

The McBee Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Ware Shoals Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McBee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Ware Shoals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While McBee's win against Abbeville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. McBee skirted past Abbeville 5-3.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Ware Shoals had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against McBee by a score of 9-5 on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Hornets, who have now won five matches in a row.

JP Medlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Jayce Medlin was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brennan Goode, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

McBee is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ware Shoals, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-9.

McBee couldn't quite get it done against Ware Shoals in their previous meeting on Saturday as they fell 9-5. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
