Baseball Game Preview: Clarksdale Wildcats vs. Bayou Academy Colts

The Clarksdale Wildcats will face off against the Bayou Academy Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Clarksdale has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Clarksdale came up short against Center Hill on Saturday, falling 13-3. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clarksdale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Washington, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bayou Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Winston Academy 4-3. The Colts haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Mallette, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Reed Holman also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.

Bayou Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Clarksdale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clarksdale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Bayou Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Clarksdale suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to Bayou Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Clarksdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
