Staunton is 8-2 against Riverheads since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Staunton Storm will head out on the road to challenge the Riverheads Gladiators at 7:30 p.m. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Riverheads will be up against a hot Staunton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. Staunton blew past Waynesboro 64-42 on Friday. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Little Giants are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverheads). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Bath County 83-42. The Gladiators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 41 points or more this season.

Staunton's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Riverheads, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Staunton strolled past Riverheads when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 86-67. The rematch might be a little tougher for Staunton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
