South Mecklenburg needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight games and they got it from Phoenix Modie. The Sabres put the hurt on the West Mecklenburg Hawks with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday thanks in part to Modie, who had 20 kills, six aces, four blocks, and three digs. He has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 15 times he's played.

The final score came out to 25-9, 25-21, 25-8.

South Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for West Mecklenburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. South Mecklenburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Butler at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Sabres are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Bulldogs a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck. West Mecklenburg will take on rival Mooresville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
