Volleyball Recap: Morgan Park Academy Takes Down St. Anne in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Morgan Park Academy walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Anne Cardinals on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2019.

Morgan Park Academy was actually outscored in aggregate across those three sets (67-64), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 13-25, 26-24.

St. Anne lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tatum Kirkland, who had 18 assists and 15 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tessa DeYoung, who had 11 kills and ten digs.

Morgan Park Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. As for St. Anne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Morgan Park Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Dwight at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Anne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
