Baseball Recap: Roncalli Has No Trouble Against New Holstein

Roncalli was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the New Holstein Huskies with a sharp 11-5 win. With that victory, the Jets brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Jake Hillmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Roncalli is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise. Hillmer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sawyer Van Drisse, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Cole, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Roncalli was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Roncalli now has a winning record of 4-3. As for New Holstein, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Roncalli will head out to square off against Howards Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for New Holstein, they will square off against Valders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
