Softball Game Preview: West Side Eagles vs. Pangburn Tigers

The West Side Eagles will face off against the Pangburn Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. West Side's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Pangburn's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

West Side is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Quitman just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 9-5 to the Bulldogs.

Eden Murphree put in work while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Murphree was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Cossey and Lainee Gentry stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cossey went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Gentry went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Sadie Davis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Pangburn had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Maumelle Charter by a score of 4-1 on Friday.

West Side's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3-1. As for Pangburn, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.

Everything went West Side's way against Pangburn in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as West Side made off with a 15-3 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
