Basketball Recap: Sunbright's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Sunbright unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to the Rockwood Tigers 38-34. Sunbright was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Rockwood earlier this season, when they won 43-30.

Sunbright lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cassidy Young, who went 6 for 14 en route to 14 points and six boards. That's the most points Young has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Smith, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Sunbright smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Sunbright's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Rockwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-12 record this season.

Sunbright will welcome Wartburg Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Smith and Myrah Hood. As for Rockwood, they will take on Midway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
