Preview: Meadowcreek Mustangs vs. Norcross Blue Devils
Meadowcreek is 1-9 against Norcross since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Meadowcreek Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Norcross Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Meadowcreek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Norcross is ranked 97th).
Last Tuesday, Meadowcreek was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to North Gwinnett. Meadowcreek has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Meadowcreek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Damari Wright, who scored 13 points along with five assists, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Adonai Mussie, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Norcross pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to North Gwinnett 66-60.
Meadowcreek's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Norcross, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Meadowcreek came up short against Norcross when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 61-51. Can Meadowcreek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
