Preview: Albemarle Bulldogs vs. North Stanly Comets

The Albemarle Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the North Stanly Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Albemarle blew past Gray Stone Day, posting a 76-39 win on the road. Given Albemarle's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Gray Stone Day is ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, North Stanly entered their tilt with Mount Pleasant with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. North Stanly blew past Mount Pleasant 46-21. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as North Stanly just coasted through the last quarter.

North Stanly can attribute much of their success to Lexie Brown, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Shalyn Bell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. Bell is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Morgan, who scored seven points along with three steals.

Albemarle's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for North Stanly, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.

Albemarle strolled past North Stanly when the teams last played back in January by a score of 61-42. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Bell, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Albemarle still be able to contain Bell? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
