Football Recap: Corbin Takes Down Russell County in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Corbin had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Russell County Lakers a 35-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Redhounds' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Lakers are ranked 125th).

Corbin's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.3 points on average over those games. As for Russell County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
