Recap: Arthur County Wolves vs. Mullen Broncos
Even though the Arthur County Wolves have not done well against the Mullen Broncos recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Arthur County came out on top against Mullen by a score of 31-24. This was payback for Arthur County, who suffered a 40-35 loss the last time these two teams met.
Among those leading the charge was Ava Wenzel, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and seven steals. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jaedin Johns, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Mullen saw an underclassman step up: Hayley Donohoe scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Arthur County's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Mullen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Arthur County will face off against Mullen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mullen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. They won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Gordon-Rushville at 3:00 p.m. on January 19th. Gordon-Rushville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mullen in Nebraska (Gordon-Rushville is ranked 86th, while Mullen is ranked 205th).
