Soccer Recap: Liberty Beats Maryvale for Their Third Straight Win

Liberty kept a clean sheet against Maryvale on Tuesday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 1-0 win from a begrudging Liberty squad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Panthers are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory (which was Liberty's third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Maryvale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4-1.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Ironwood on the 26th. As for Maryvale, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Point at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
