Softball Recap: Western Beats Pompano Beach for Their 14th Straight Win

Western put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes with a sharp 15-4 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Ali Solo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Western let Hanna Turner and Madison Mejia run wild. Turner scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Mejia scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Mejia has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gia Solano, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pompano Beach only posted a batting average of .250.

Western's record now sits at 7-0. As for Pompano Beach, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Western will challenge Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Western is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Pompano Beach, they have already played their next game, a 6-1 defeat against Westminster Christian on the 13th.
