Basketball Game Preview: Orange Beach Makos vs. St. Michael Catholic Cardinals

Orange Beach is on a five-game streak of home losses, St. Michael Catholic a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Orange Beach Makos will welcome the St. Michael Catholic Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are at an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2020, but likely not for long.

Last Tuesday, Orange Beach didn't have quite enough to beat Escambia County and fell 53-50.

Meanwhile, St. Michael Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 46-42 to Baldwin County. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Tigers are ranked 104th).

Orange Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for St. Michael Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Orange Beach couldn't quite finish off St. Michael Catholic in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 37-34. Can Orange Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
