Baseball Game Preview: Apple Valley Sun Devils vs. Sultana Sultans

For the second straight game, Apple Valley will face off against Sultana. The Sun Devils will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Sultans at 3:15 p.m.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Apple Valley turned things around against Sultana on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over the Sultans. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sun Devils considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Kaiden Hibbs looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Apple Valley's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaden Padilla, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Apple Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sultana's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Apple Valley, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
